About Love

Today I received a very spontaneous hug accompanied by the words, "I love you, Tia!" It caught me by surprise, although I somewhat knew it was coming because I know her. She is so full of love, and is so very affectionate. Still, I savored that moment because it left me thinking, "Isn't it so wonderful when someone loves you so freely and so from their free-will?"
My little niece showed me a wonderful display of love at it's purest. No complicated reasons why, she just does. She didn't wait for me to tell her first. She didn't wait for the appropriate moment. She caught me the moment she saw me again, and her little heart was full of joy as she gave me her love.
I want to love like that. I never want my heart to be so hard and cold that I lose the joy in loving others, especially loving God. Sometimes, as adults, we may feel like we need to think of a reason for why we love God before we express that to Him. Maybe it's just as simple as the moment we "see" God, we run to Him and tell Him, "I love You!"
